I think that everyone who has heard of us knows we are a big cooling tower rep.
And we are.
In fact, we’re the oldest Marley rep in the United States, and we proudly hang certificates signed by Leon T. Mart and C.E. Smiley from when the company was founded – almost a hundred years ago – on the entrance wall of our headquarters in St. Louis, MO.
Check this out!
Marley is an SPX Cooling Technologies brand that sits alone at the top. It’s a full-line, full-service cooling tower manufacturer, a global leader founded over a century ago. Marley has more than 150 offices worldwide, and its products are the result of their investment in R&D, innovation, and technology to achieve maximum optimization.
But over the years, we’ve expanded our business quite a bit.
We’ve added Recold to all of our territories, which is an SPX brand for fluid coolers and evaporative condensers. Low noise, forced draft, centrifugal or axial fan design with a weight saving, corrosion-free copper coil, all in a low height configuration, are just some of the benefits of these units. And that was just the first step.
Midwest Machinery has grown from a team of 3 to having offices in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and a sister company in Colorado.
Our growth strategy?
Evolving with the industry and adapting to new scenarios. HVAC systems are much more advanced today than they were when we started, for reasons such as AI, climate change, new state and federal regulations, etc.
Moving from a “cooling tower” sales rep to a well-rounded HVAC sales rep was more than just a strategic move, it was an opportunity to fulfill our customers’ needs.
The world of HVAC systems offers numerous possibilities. Just to give you an idea, today we rep 36+ product lines across our territories.
Our line card is capable of handling any commercial and light industrial HVAC project, consisting of air handling units, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, dehumidifiers, fan coils, industrial fans and blowers, heat exchangers, pumps, rooftop units, tanks and air separators, valves, VFDs, VRFs, WSHP and geothermal, and water treatment.
But don’t take our word for it. Take a look for yourself.
MISSOURI AND ILLINOIS

Quantech, Smardt, and Dunham-Bush are our chiller brands, each one offering unique benefits and applications.
Quantech is for when you need a replacement chiller “right now.” They stock their chillers for quick delivery in 2 – 5 business days. Quantech stock chillers come with the most commonly asked for options on the market.
Smardt chillers are designed for a 30-year operating life, and at the core of all units, is an oil-free Danfoss Turbocor compressor that does not compromise heat exchanger performance and offers no friction loss associated with conventional compressor bearings.
Dunham-Bush is one of the world’s top commercial air conditioning manufacturers, offering the same products and services to all corners of the world: air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, air handlers, fan coil units, and packaged units.
Desert-Aire offers high performance and energy efficient dehumidifiers and DOAS, perfect for applications in hospitality and higher education industries. Their new GrowAire™ system provides for the integrated control of temperature, humidity and airflow conditions to enhance and protect crops, making indoor farming greenhouses and grow rooms management a lot easier.
Enviro-Tec fan coils offer modular construction, access panels, and a single point power connection to dramatically reduce installation and maintenance costs. We will put our fan coil and VAV construction up against any competitor any day.
Now let’s talk about one of the most important components in HVAC systems: heat exchangers. We work with Mueller and Alfa Laval in Missouri and Illinois.
Alfa Laval has developed products since 1883 and has more than 2000 patents. Their products are widely specified to improve water treatment, food production, and indoor climate. If you need dependability, energy optimization, and environmental protection, this is the way to go.
Pumps are also vital in any HVAC system. We are proud to represent Armstrong, one of the best brands in the industry. Armstrong design envelope pumps enable the greenest, most flexible, and most cost-effective fluid-flow and HVAC systems on the planet. No kidding. They are masters in fluid technology and have a mindset for innovation and the future.
Speaking about technology, TempMaster has it all figured out ahead of time. Commercial rooftop units from TempMaster already meet aggressive Department of Energy (DOE) 2023 energy efficiency standards. Offered in standard efficiency, high capacity and high efficiency, these units can provide up to 50% greater efficiency at part-load than is currently required.
Another product line that is miles ahead is Hitachi VRF. Johnson Controls, in a joint venture with Hitachi Air-Conditioning division, has created the perfect blend of technology and expertise, and you get the best of both worlds: a global VRF manufacturer partnered with one of the most respected manufacturers of HVAC systems in the world.
The future always brings concerns about sustainability, and many studies point out the advantages that VFDs, tanks, air separators, water source heat pumps, geothermal systems, and water treatment as a means of achieving greater efficiency and reducing valuable resources such as energy and water.
We pride ourselves in working with companies that see environmental challenges as opportunities to do better. Danfoss is one of them. Their variable frequency drives improve system performance by estimating the load of a fan or by using a drive-attached transmitter. Danfoss VFDs have a pressure-to-flow conversion feature that enables predictive and condition-based maintenance needs. When all that HVAC daily load variation in facilities is considerable (especially in Missouri and Illinois!), VFDs have proved to be one of the most effective existing methods to reduce energy consumption.
Spirotherm separators create a low velocity, low turbulence dirt separation chamber that expertly pulls particulates out of the water, reducing energy consumption. If you think that a chiller can be responsible for about 25% of your energy costs, you’ll want to protect your investment with Spirotherm.
ClimateMaster takes into consideration all of the challenges building owners, architects, and contractors face in their projects. Usable space, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, maintenance costs, building longevity, and LEED® certification all come to the forefront of their manufacturing process. Hotels, universities, office buildings, senior living facilities, condominiums, and healthcare facilities can benefit from their solutions.
When it comes to water treatment, Midwest Machinery believes that non-chemical water treatment is the key. That’s why we work with physics-based water treatment companies, representing Griswold and Flow-Tech water systems.
Griswold’s technology controls scale, biological life, and corrosion through electrodynamic field generation, typically saving you 30-60% in water costs. Their system is installed in U.S. military bases and the Google headquarters in Silicon Valley. That must mean something good. They also have traditional solids management solutions and sand filter systems to ensure that solid particles won’t affect the performance of your HVAC equipment.
Flow-Tech uses a different principle, a proprietary method that is equally effective, easy to install, and with a quick ROI. Flow-Tech can treat the water in your entire plumbing system, whether the water is moving or not. The solution generates an electromagnetic field that is conducted into the water loop header and throughout the piping network to form homogeneous calcium seed crystals that simply remain in suspension. These suspended seed crystals will eventually settle out or pass through the system without adhering to the heated surfaces.
In both systems, the reduced blowdown does not contain chemicals, meaning it can be reused for other purposes, including irrigation. By reusing the blowdown water, no water is wasted, and sewer fees can be eliminated.
We also work with PEP Filters and Aquanomix. PEP filters are a world leader of automatic self- cleaning filters, making a huge impact on your HVAC with simple solutions that go from sand filters to sweeper jet nozzles that remove solids and contaminants from the cooling tower basin.
Aquanomix offers environmental technology for water reclamation, a proven solution that helps solve the crisis of water scarcity.
KANSAS
We’ve already talked about Marley, the #1 brand for cooling towers, and Recold.
ClimateMaster, Griswold, Alfa Laval, Flow-Tech, and PEP are brands that we rep in Kansas too.
But in Kansas we work with three more brands I haven’t mentioned yet: Wilo, Mueller and Patterson.
Mueller Accu-Therm® plate heat exchangers are designed to provide you worry-free, highly efficient heat transfer solutions whether you are processing simple fluids, viscous solutions, or particulates.
Wilo and Patterson are HVAC pump lines.
Wilo grew from a regional copper and brassware manufacturer in 1872 to a global player in the high-tech pump sector. With their special software, you can select the right pump in seconds. Their knowledge and experience in pump systems for water supply and air-conditioning allow them to answer tomorrow’s most pressing issues brought by globalization, urbanization, energy shortage, water shortage, and climate change.
Patterson is a Gorman-Rupp company and one of the world’s leading suppliers of quality pumps for the Fire, Municipal, Industrial, Flood Control, Plumbing, and HVAC markets. In their catalog, you will see horizontal split case, end suction, vertical in-line (with or without VFD), and numerous pumping accessories through the EnviroFlo line.
OKLAHOMA
In Oklahoma, we have two offices, OKC and Tulsa. Good news is that we offer the same product lines in both.
Patterson pumps, Marley cooling towers, Hitachi VRF, Recold fluid coolers and evaporative condensers, Dunham-Bush chillers, and PEP filters are all part of our Oklahoma portfolio.
Then we have RBI boilers.
RBI is a Mestek brand for commercial boilers with an unmet flame plate design that facilitates air removal due to its convex shape and sediment removal as a result of high velocity. Their ignition system is another incredible feature and a true advantage.
Our heat exchanger brands in Oklahoma are APV and Aerofin.
APV designs and manufactures compact and modular heat exchangers for reduced operating and maintenance costs with flow rates up to 21,000 GPM and design pressures to 450 PSIG, being a great solution in areas where space is limited.
Aerofin is a leading manufacturer of finned tube heat exchanger coils, and with their selection software and DLL integration, air handler manufacturers are able to select coils to any size and configuration to meet their application.
If you’re looking into fans and blowers, we have natural ventilation solutions with Moffitt that offer zero operating or maintenance costs, believe it or not.
We also have Twin City fans and blowers, that offers solutions for 40 different industries and close to 60 different applications on top of a wide range of fan-testing and services. Twin City is a worldwide manufacturer, with offices in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
And, of course, we have Cincinnati Fan, that has a strict quality assurance program and at the same time is able to offer prompt delivery, manufacturing industrial fans and blowers to order and shipping them in 10-15 days, with most accessories. They specialize in cast aluminum and fabricated steel, aluminum and stainless steel industrial fans between 1/4 and 125 horsepower.
Whalen is another brand we rep only in Oklahoma, a company known for being innovative. The number of industry “firsts” from Whalen is impressive, including the industry’s first vertical stack “valveless” fan coils, the first vertical stack heat pump offering, the first removable chassis closet-type heat pumps, and the first water-cooled air conditioning units with hydronic heat.
A couple of years ago, we became the BOSCH heat pumps rep in the territory.
BOSCH has added all kinds of extra features to water source heat pumps when they acquired Florida Heat Pumps, increasing the efficiency of the equipment by at least 20%. One of them is the stainless-steel cabinet, that lasts forever. They also added brass fitting for the water source lines, a built-in flood switch that is great for noise control, along with a half-inch insulation for condensation. The coil is coated to protect from oxidation, the circuit board is easily accessible, and maintenance accessibility is a big advantage of these units, even though they are considered to be “bullet-proof” for never breaking.
